What do you use for weight?
We use polystyrene beans. They're round plastic pellets, not real beans. They're
hypo-allergenic and can be machine washed and dried.

What is the difference between The Minky Bean Blanket and the Original Bean Blanket?

The Original Bean Blanket was our first weighted blanket. It's make with two panels of fleece
-- a front and back panel creating a six-inch-by-six-inch pocket. Each pocket is filled with a
small amount of polystyrene beans and then sewn closed with heavy duty thread.

For The Minky, the first thing we do is create an inner liner made from flannel and
constructed with two panels the same way as the Original Bean Blanket. We then cover the
inner liner with the outer liner, which is made from super-ultra-soft minky or chenille fabric.
With The Minky, there are no visible seams.

Why is it called The Minky Bean Blanket?

We call it The Minky because it is unbelievably soft like mink.

How is the Flannel Bean Blanket made?

The Flannel Bean Blanket is made the same way as The Minky Bean Blanket -- constructed
with an inner panel where the polystyrene beans are sewn into 6-inch squares, and then an
outer layer is sewn over the inner panel. With this type of construction there are no visible
seams in the blanket.

Are these blankets durable enough to endure years of washing?

Yes. For both The Minky and the Original Bean Blanket, we use only the highest quality
fabric and make them on heavy duty machines with industrial strength thread.

The Original Bean Blanket can be machine washed with cold water on the gentle cycle and
dried on low heat in the dryer. The fleece will actually get even softer with each washing.

The Minky can also be machine washed with cold water on the gentle cycle. But it should be
either dried in the dryer on 'fluff' or line dried.

If I don't love The Minky or The Original Bean Blanket, can I return it for a full refund?

Yes. Send us an email at returns@beanblanket.com and let us know that you're sending it
back. As long as it's in "like new" condition, we'll issue you a full refund once we receive it.
But you'll have to pay for shipping.

How long will it take to ship my order?

If we have your Original Bean Blanket in stock, it will ship within 48 hours. Orders that are
not in stock will take anywhere from one to two weeks to make and ship.

Because making The Minky is a labor intensive process -- there are 96 pockets that need to
have polystyrene beans inserted by hand and then sewn closed -- we don't make The Minky
until it is ordered. We're usually able to ship the blanket within one week after receiving the
order.
